For much of Eve history, only capsuleers were immortal because the technology required to download consciousness was linked to a capsule that encloses them and leaves them in suspended animation. The capsule was designed specifically as an interface for pilots to control the ship that they were placed within. However, the discovery of a special implant made it possible to achieve a transfer of consciousness without the use of a capsule, so it became possible to make immortals that were not pilots.
Dust players take the role of immortal ground-based soldiers which were created by the military shortly after the implant was discovered. Dust is a first-person shooter with elements of massively multiplayer online games. Combat takes place on the various planets found in Eve Online, each of which offers a unique map. Planets are divided into several large districts, which hold resources and installations that dust players must fight for control over. Only the natural landscape of each planet remains constant; the placement of buildings and surface structures is controlled by the player corporations.
Dropsuits have various module slots which players can utilize to fit different weapons and equipment. This gives players a broad range of customization choices and the ability to create specialized fits to perform specific roles and tactics on the battlefield. Skill training, in a manner similar to Eve Online, is also available.
CCP has stated that it would take seven years to train all skills, and that it was not intended for any player to learn all of the skills. Vehicles share the modular fitting system that infantry dropsuits have.
Theyll be able to teach us a thing or two, he laughed. Theyre not carebears themselves. The controls are a little loose, and the gunplay, in general, leaves much to be desired. We blasted enemies from point-blank range with machine guns and watched their health slowly tick down, and fired rockets at point blank that didn't seem to do anything of consequence.
We felt absolutely no sense of contact when we blasted enemies with rockets or lasers. Even melee felt weak, leaving us confused as to why these giant, armor-clad mercenaries didnt seem to have much impact. Were hoping that the gameplay is cleaned up over the next few months, since the potential is absolutely there, but as of now its going to be hard to convince FPS fans to ditch their favorite game for an MMOFPS that is lackluster in the FPS area.
But we're still interested. Now that we've witnessed what CCP was able to pull off we're amazed at the potential not just for this game, but for gaming in general. If nothing else, DUST has kicked open a door we didn't even know existed, and there's something remarkable about that.

There was a problem. Please refresh the page and try again. This statement threw me off:. Well, the comments so far prove that no one reads past the first sentence.. The first sentence says they have big news about the game this week, not the game itself.
As a fan of planetside i have kept up with this game from the time it was announced, now how about CCP talk about them add ons and prices. Does this mean no start-up isk? And somewhere else I saw mention of a Vita companion app. True or not? No cover, free to play? Cannot wait for this game, love the Eve universe and cant wait to get my hands dirty on the battlefield!
I hope people are on board for this it looks and sounds awesome. I think the catch here will be a Ton of DLC, yet.. That makes it sound like the game is releasing this week. This is a good opportunity to draw a crowd, hopefully it has a good follow through. So this means the Vita version is free also? And when is that version releasing. Infact they even say ther will be NOTHING ingame that a paying player can get that a free player cant the only difference between a paying player and a free player would be how fast you want said item.
For example a paying player could pay lets say bucks and get an upgrade right then and there while a free player can get that SAME upgrade it might take him a few days or a week of ingame work to be able to get it. I mean DC universe online is free and it has paying players are any of them have game breaking boosts that make them stronger than free players? RC Motorstorm for free and this to? Can this get any better?? This is just wonderful news!!! We use cookies to personalise your experience and ads on this website and other websites.
